Water resistant wood flooring

What’s the best waterproof wood flooring?

That title should be worded as: "What's the best wood option for wet areas?" As you probably know, solid hardwood can be damaged by water and moisture. There are some alternatives, but the decision will ultimately rest on your needs.

Paradise Floors and More makes your floor shopping exciting, fun, and as uncomplicated and stress-free as possible. We're well-known in the flooring industry in the Sarasota area; our philosophy has always been that we could provide both competitive pricing and the highest quality product.

Water-resistant wood flooring

Some flooring can be highly water-resistant. It can be considered almost waterproof but since it’s not completely impervious to water, some liquid can still get through. Two products fit the bill here: engineered hardwood flooring and wood-look laminate.

Engineered is one type of construction of hardwood. Unlike solid which, as the name implies, is one slab throughout the thickness, engineered is layered. At the top is a slice of authentic wood with knots, grains, and undertones. Underneath are three or more layers of genuine wood combined with a little resin, and placed in a crosswise position. That gives it stability and an increased ability to handle moisture.

Wood-look laminate can look and feel like the real thing, especially if it has the rigid SPC (stone plastic composite) core. It is remarkably realistic, with images taken with 3D photography. Features, such as embossing, give it depth, dimension, and textured appearances. It comes in matte, gloss, and high gloss finishes.

Luxury vinyl plank (LVP): the ultimate waterproof wood-look flooring

Stylish, affordable, and completely waterproof, LVP isn't just a top choice for the kitchen and bath, but it's fashionable enough for living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, etc. It is one of the cuts of luxury vinyl flooring (LVF), a realistic mimic of wood, tile, or stone. Available in a wide assortment of colors, patterns, designs, and species, all LVF is embossed to add depth and dimension and provide textured appearances.

This is how LVP is made: Images are taken with 3D photography. The photography is clear, vibrant, and accurate. The vinyl is cut into strips and mounted on boards to mimic hardwood planks. It's embossed and finished with a matte, gloss, or high gloss finish.
