Reasons to use porcelain tile flooring

Tile flooring is affordable and comes in an almost unlimited number of colors, patterns, designs, and sizes. Although it used to be mainly used in kitchens and baths, many are realizing how versatile it is for any room, including the living and dining areas. A lot of people use the terms porcelain and ceramic interchangeably, but they each behave differently in various installations.

Paradise Floors and More makes your floor shopping exciting, fun, and stress-free. We remove any overwhelm. We're well-known in the flooring industry in the Sarasota area and our mission has always been to provide competitive pricing with the highest quality product.

From a functional viewpoint

Porcelain is made of a fine-grained clay called kaolin that also includes some quartz and feldspar. Sand and glass are also added to the mixture. Then it's fired at a higher temperature, making it dense, heavy, and very durable. As a result, it's appropriate for kitchens, baths, hallways, and any room that experiences high foot traffic.

Porcelain is also waterproof, with an absorption rate lower than .05 percent, as indicated by the industry organization, American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). Even though most porcelain tile ultimately gets a glass-like surface finish, it's impervious to liquid with or without it. It can also withstand the weather, so it's fine to use it outside.

From a design viewpoint

Tile today is getting bigger and bigger. Porcelain, a large format, is answering this trend. Typical porcelain might be 8 X 10, but you can get them in giant sizes, such as 24 X 24.

This tile can be made to look like anything, including wood.

The wood floor is a trend that’s expected to last at least 15 years. Thanks to Inkjet Technology you’re able to get the beautiful, natural-looking visuals and textured feels of hardwood while maintaining the durability of porcelain tile. Wood-look tile can be cut into planks of any size and you can get it in any color, from whitewashed tones to gray hues and traditional shades.

This is an advantage for any wet room, such as the bathroom, where authentic wood can be damaged by moisture, but it's not just about wood. You can also get stone, art decor, chevron, herringbone, geometric designs, and more. Marble baths are also trending right now.
